 Meet Gary
Lee, owner and resident potter at Rising Sun Pottery since
November 2000 when he retired from his day job and became a full time
potter and business owner. Living in Charlotte, NC at the time, Gary,
who has been a studio potter for almost 20 years, got his start at
turning clay under the guidance of potter Lambeth Marshall of Waxhaw,
North Carolina, who is an accomplished and well known potter both
regionally and nationally. Gary continued his pottery education with
Spirit Square Clayworks instructors Leon Nickols and Doug Blythe while a
member of the Clayworks Clay Co-op. From that beginning Gary taught
pottery classes through Clayworks for almost
4 years before purchasing Rising Sun Pottery in December 1999.Gary has attended numerous workshops over the years and continues that practice today in his quest for continuing education so as to be able to convey this knowledge to both his students and studio guild members. His philosophy is "to be able to learn is to be able to teach." |
