Gary Lee, owner and resident potter at Rising Sun Pottery invites you to
stop by and see the variety of beautiful and original pieces created by
both
Gary and members of Rising Sun Clay Guild.
The Gallery is a comfortable and causal atmosphere where you can browse
the collection of stoneware creations and talk directly with the potters
whose
work is on display. Here you can see and purchase stoneware and folk
art that harkens back to the early days of pottery making in the Catawba
Valleyr egion of North Carolina. You will find wheel turned pots, hand build
pots and folk art pieces, including roosters and face jugs. All work
will be
food safe, microwave safe, dishwasher safe and all glazes are lead free.
Only our Raku fired work is unsafe for food or water usage. Our
utilitarian
pieces are designed to be taken home, used in the kitchen and with
loving care will last for generations to come. The
Gallery adjoins a working studio so you're likely to catch Gary, his
studio assistant, students or a Clay Guild member busy turning pots.
It's a
fun and interesting place to visit where you can not only view and
purchase beautiful works of stoneware and folk art but you can also gain
an appreciation for how the piece was made and talk to the artist who
made it. This adds an extra dimension of uniqueness to the pieces as
both gifts and
works that you'll enjoy and cherish in your home.
The work of the Rising Sun Pottery Studio
is
as functional as it is beautiful. The hand turned traditional
stoneware is made with lead-free glazes and is dishwasher &
microwave safe.
