Rising Sun Pottery studio offers both day and night pottery classes.
Classes are taught year round and are tailored to the knowledge and
skill
level of the student. Rising Sun also offers a week long Retreat class
each July and 1/2 day and full day workshops are held at various times
throughout
the year, teaching wheel, hand building, glaze making, Raku firing,
etc..
The
studio provides an excellent place to learn pottery making skills in a
fun and relaxed atmosphere. There's plenty of space for student
projects, excellent equipment and a fun and caring instructor. Gary
Lee, the primary
instructor has almost 20 years experience as a studio potter. And has
taught pottery making for the last 11 of those years, beginning his
teaching at Spirit Square and its successor Tryon Center for Visual Art,
now the
McColl Center for Art located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rising Sun
Pottery Studio classes are small, only 5 students per class, which makes
for a more relaxed atmosphere and allows for more individual attention
to the student.
