Rising
Sun Pottery owner Gary Lee, members of the Rising Sun Clay Guild
and students, make traditional utilitarian stoneware and folk
art clay
creations. Their work is wheel turned, hand built or a
combination of both.
Day and night
classes are taught year
round. In addition, a July 4th week long pottery Retreat is
held each year at Wildacres Retreat Center, located in the NC
mountains and, day long Saturday workshops are held at different
times of the year. Both the Retreat and Saturday workshops are
open to students and accomplished potters alike. |
.The
open to the public studio offers a great work nvironment, fully
equipped to serve both students and accomplished potters alike. There
are five potters wheels, a slab roller, extruder and other specially
equipment to make your studio experience as care free as possible. We
also have clay reclamation equipment including a Pugmill and we reclaim
or recycle
everything. We fire electric, using two Skutt 1027's and one Skutt
1227, plus a small test kiln. We have a large double burner Raku kiln
set-up and
will have a small up draft gas kiln later in 2007.
The studio is open and spacious, with well lit work areas and plenty of
shelf storage space for your pots.
A public
Gallery is available to the
Rising Sun Clay Guild members for displaying and selling their finished
work and there is a retail store area selling glazes, tools and other
needed items for all potters.
